Our Team

Hang H. Thai, O.D., is a native of Orlando. After graduating from the University of Florida, she attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, where she received her Doctor of Optometry in 2001. She practiced in the Washington, D.C. area for five years, and returned to her roots to Orlando, in 2006.

Dr. Thai began her partnership with Lenscrafters in 2008, being the primary doctor at Lenscrafters West Oaks Mall in Ocoee, FL. She continued the relationship by being the primary doctor for the Winter Garden Village Lenscrafters. Dr. Thai has been an integral partner with Lenscrafters, and is one of the trainers for other Lenscrafters doctors in the Central Florida region when new technologies are implemented, like the Clarifye digital eye exam experience. Dr. Thai and her staff believes in using the latest technologies to improve patients’ vision and the eye health experience. Her office has the newest technologies to care for the patients’ eyes, and the most accurate eye exam available.

Dr. Thai also believes in the continued improvement of the Optometry profession. She has been a board member of the Central Florida Society of Optometric Physicians (CFSOP) for over 10 years including serving as president for 3 years. Under her leadership, the Society in conjunction the State and National Optometric Association promote excellence in vision care through the highest standards of patient care and to enhance and promote the independent and ethical decision-making of its members.

Being a doctor has many challenges, however, there is no reward like being able to give back. Dr. Thai began her journey of giving back, both locally and internationally with a wonderful organization known as OneSight. Through OneSight, Dr. Thai has provided free eye exams to local patients in need and also traveled the world with a team of dedicated eye care professionals to provide free vision exams and glasses to the people who needed them the most. Many of these individuals can see clearly for the first time because access to eye care and healthcare are so limited in their parts of the world.

In 2014, Dr. Thai travelled for two weeks to India and her and her team provided eye exams and eye glasses to over 10,000 people. In 2015, she went to the neediest parts of Tampa, FL, to provide exams and glasses to elementary students. In 2016, she traveled to Tanzania, Africa, to provide eye exams and eyeglasses to more than 5,000 people. None of this would be possible without the OneSight organization. What Dr. Thai loves most is being a part of the community. She and her husband have two girls and live in the same community with many of her patients. She loves building relationships and helping her neighbors have access to the best vision care available.

Dr. Mavrofrides received her B.S. from the University of Florida, Magna Cum Laude, and her doctorate from the University of Houston, College of Optometry, with Honors. Dr. Mavrofrides has been practicing for over 25 years. Her specialties are in Contact Lenses, Disease Management, and Comprehensive Family Eye Care. She has always wanted to help others with their visual needs and after all of these years of practice, she still loves her profession and looks forward to using her expertise each day to help those in need.

She was born in New Jersey to a large Greek family and grew up in Ft. Myers, FL. She has four wonderful children who love hiking and watching movies together. Her interests include reading, cooking, and photography. She also volunteers at her children’s school with yearly vision screenings and planning fundraising events.

Dr. Joseph Nguyen is a board-certified optometrist with over 10 years of experience in comprehensive eye care and specializes in ocular disease, dry eye treatment, and advanced contact lens fitting. He received his B.S. from the Louisiana State University and his doctorate from the University of the Incarnate Word School of Optometry in San Antonio, TX. Furthering his professional development, he completed a specialized residency in primary care at the Veterans Affairs in Gainesville, FL.

His patients describe him as a thorough, attentive, and patient doctor who takes his time to explain every part of the exam process and enjoys educating them about their vision and ocular health. He believes that great eye care starts with listening and his goal is to make sure every patient feels confident knowing why they’re facing daily challenges with their eyes. He is truly passionate about helping patients see their best and improving their quality of life through personalized care.

Recognizing the importance of a balanced life outside of patient care, he cherishes every moment spent with his family. His passion for sports provides an engaging way to unwind and connect with others who share his enthusiasm for competition and athleticism. Other hobbies including cooking and hosting get togethers, which allows him to create lasting memories with those he cares about.
